Cachoeira da Purificação

In the Bombas community, about 8km from Vale do Capão, Cachoeira da Purificação caps off an easy, shaded trail with no steep sections — about an hour's walk, though unmarked, so it's worth going with a local guide. Along the way, the first stop is Poço da Angélica, a large natural pool ringed by forest; just ahead, Purificação forms three waterfalls in a row through the vegetation. The water is considered the coldest in all of Chapada Diamantina — the plunge takes some nerve.
