Vale do Pati
Considered one of Brazil's most beautiful treks, Vale do Pati sits inside Chapada Diamantina National Park and is reached, among other routes, from Vale do Capão itself. The trail crosses canyons, rivers and waterfalls over roughly 70km, with a 3-day loop or a 5-day end-to-end option — moderate to difficult, no cell signal, a guide is essential. What makes it unique is the village: there's no conventional inn inside — you stay in the home of one of around ten native families, the "patizeiros," with home-cooked meals and stories from people who've lived in the Chapada for generations. Casa da Dona Raquel, with its accordion-driven forró nights, is legendary among those who've done the crossing.
